“In this life of dreams and visions, can’t find no peace at all.” (Doug McArthur, 1974).
I’m a natural surrealist. As far back as I can remember, I’ve been deeply interested in experiential knowledge, including dreams, trance states, the religious and mystical, science fiction and fantasy, and that which lurks beyond normal perception and structured understanding. Even in my more realistic work, it lurks in the way the subject confronts the viewer and makes demands. You may not see it, but I do.
Here I’ve gathered some of my more explicit images of the genre, rife with magic and mystery, strange juxtapositions, the uncanny and unexpected, and altered, dreamlike states. What does it all mean? Is it different for every viewer, or is their some underlying message to be ferreted out?
